Super-TF Tapered Roller Bearings for Gearboxes

Wind turbine drivetrain components are subjected to immense and adverse operating challenges: heavy dynamic and impact loads, rapid accelerations and decelerations of gearbox shafts, system-wide lubrication challenges, and potentially harsh environmental conditions. NSK’s Super-TF (STF) tapered roller bearings for gearboxes possess inherently higher material strength to deliver superior resistance to wear, seizure, and the propagation of surface and subsurface bearing damage.

Super-TF Tapered Roller Bearings for Gearboxes | High Strength & Long Life

Design Features

  • Bearing rings are manufactured with long-life Super-TF alloy composition and carbonitriding process
  • Bearing rings and roller surfaces are treated with black oxide coating (BOC)
  • For planetary carriers: large-size, dimensionally specialized single row bearings in metric and inch dimensions
  • For low-speed intermediate shafts: double row bearings with normal contact angle (KH design) or with steep angle races (KDH design) for increased axial load capacity
  • For high-speed intermediate shafts, high-speed shafts and low-speed intermediate shafts: duplex bearings in symmetrical or major/minor arrangements

Operating Benefits

  • Higher reliability and longer operating life with Super-TF steel, reducing bearing replacement and maintenance intervals
  • Higher load capacity derived from optimized internal design, as much as 35% greater than conventional sealed bearings
  • Sealed-clean solution extends bearing performance exponentially, significantly reducing grease consumption and corresponding maintenance costs / downtime
  • Sealed bearings promote a cleaner work environment

Fields of Application including

  • Wind turbines
