NSK Developing EV Wireless Charging Ecosystem! NSK is collaborating with the University of Tokyo and Bridgestone to develop practical wireless charging systems for in-wheel motors installed in electric vehicles (EV). EV will be charged from units in the surface of roadways and parking lots, enabling EV to drive further with fewer battery cells. There is significant potential to further reduce CO2 emissions. Siam NSK Steering Systems recently went out to Khao Ang Rue Nai Wildlife Sanctuary to create artificial salt licks for wild elephants and release fish to stock the lake. The sanctuary is an important center for elephant conservation, covering over 1000 square kilometers. A total of 137 NSK employees and family members participated. New! NSK technology helps boost energy efficiency in EV! EV energy efficiency (fuel economy) relies on efficient, low friction rotation of motor and powertrain components. NSK's new "LCube II" bearing lets automakers use less oil and with a lower viscosity, which contributes to higher efficiency and better fuel economy. This is achieved through special surface processing applied to each roller in LCube II bearings that also significantly increases durability and seizure resistance under severely low (thin) lubrication conditions. NSK wins award for new technology supporting clean energy! "Hard as a diamond, but supple like graphite." NSK conducts extensive research in tribology, the study of friction and wear of surfaces in motion. Our team of engineers was awarded by the Japan Association of Tribologists for developing a new DLC "Diamond-like Carbon" coating that boosts resistance to delamination (flaking off). DLC coatings increase service life and reduce friction, allowing wind turbine bearings to last longer than ever. So does NSK! 🌳 On June 8, 2019, in partnership City Hall staff from Hanyu City, Saitama, NSK employees and family cleaned up the Hozoji Swamp Aldrovanda Vesiculosa Habitat, a nationally designated natural monument. Aldrovanda Vesiculosa, also known as the waterwheel plant, is an endangered species of carnivorous plant. Around 20 people took part.
